Ecuador wildlife

Sometimes you find wildlife in the strangest places...just ask my friend Dustin who found two baby turtles in his swimming pool skimmer.

He said they were still alive, so he took them to the ocean, good luck little buddies. Swim!

Another picture from Facebook a couple months ago, reminded us that no one told the whales we were locked down due to Covid. April and  May came and so did they. Have been told they enjoyed having the ocean all to themselves, and did many happy dances when not so many were watching.

Don't know who these guys are, but they had one heck of a catch the other day out of Puerto Lopez.

And, closer to home, Mia is still killing wildlife around the house. At least 3 lizards the other day, and two giant grasshoppers.

Thats all for today. Overcast this morning and the yard needs some attention, so, stay safe, and stay tuned, the adventure continues.

What's next 2020?

For us in Ecuador, the answer is Volcano! Our southern most volcano Sangay erupted the other day, spewing ash all over the place.

According to Wikipedia the volcano has only erupted 4 times, but that is because it has actually been erupting since 1934! Why this year it decided to be different,  who knows!

Sangay (also known as MacasSanagay, or Sangai)[7] is an active stratovolcano in central Ecuador. It is the most active volcano. It exhibits mostly strombolian activity. Geologically, Sangay marks the southern boundary of the Northern Volcanic Zone, and its position straddling two major pieces of crust accounts for its high level of activity.

The photos of ash fall are just west of the volcano, some ash in Guayaquil, up here in Manabi we had none.  The next closest volcano is in Peru, some 900 miles south. You just never know what's going to happen this year. Go home 2020...we've had enough! But stay tuned...the adventure continues.
